About King of Dice
Your go-to resource for tabletop gaming dice, from everyday players to serious collectors.
Why We Exist
King of Dice started because finding quality dice shouldn’t be a gamble. Whether you’re rolling for initiative in your weekly D&D campaign or building a collection of premium metal sets, you deserve honest information about what you’re buying.
We’re tabletop gamers who got tired of clickbait reviews and vague product descriptions. So we built a site that cuts through the noise and tells you what actually matters: balance, readability, durability, and value.
What Makes Us Different
We Actually Roll the Dice
Every set we recommend has been tested in actual game sessions. We check for balance issues, readability under typical gaming conditions, and how they hold up after dozens of rolls. If we haven’t rolled it, we don’t review it.
No BS Reviews
We’re not here to fluff up mediocre products. If a dice set has poor number contrast, we’ll tell you. If the finish wears off after a month, you’ll hear about it. Our job is to help you avoid disappointments, not rack up affiliate clicks.
Context That Matters
A $15 resin set and a $80 metal set serve different purposes. We evaluate dice in the context of their price point and intended use. Budget players and collectors both have a place at the table, and our recommendations reflect that.
What We Cover
STANDARD SETS
The everyday 7-dice polyhedral sets for D&D, Pathfinder, and other RPGs. We focus on readability, balance, and durability for regular play.
SPECIALTY DICE
Metal dice, liquid core, gemstone, and other premium options. We help you understand what you’re paying for beyond aesthetics.
BULK OPTIONS
Pound-o-dice and bulk sets for DMs, educators, or anyone who needs multiple sets without breaking the bank.
ACCESSORIES
Dice trays, towers, bags, and storage solutions. Because your dice deserve better than a Crown Royal bag (though those work too).
How We Evaluate Dice
Readability
Can you actually read the numbers in typical lighting? We test dice under various conditions—bright overhead lights, dim mood lighting, and everything in between. Poor contrast ruins even the prettiest dice.
Balance & Fair Rolling
While perfect balance is rare outside of casino dice, we watch for obvious bias. Sets that consistently favor certain numbers get flagged. For high-stakes games, we note which dice are casino-quality.
Durability
How do they hold up after 50+ game sessions? We track paint wear, edge chipping, and structural issues. Metal dice get tested for denting. Resin gets tested for cracking.
Value
Are you getting what you pay for? We compare similar products at different price points and tell you when it’s worth spending more—and when it’s not.
Feel & Weight
This matters more than you’d think. We describe the heft, how they sound rolling, and the tactile experience. Some players love the clink of metal; others prefer the lighter feel of resin.
Who’s Behind This
King of Dice is run by longtime tabletop gamers with way too many dice and strong opinions about them. We’ve been rolling dice since THAC0 was a thing, and we’ve accumulated enough sets to know what separates the keepers from the landfill fodder.
We’re not professional reviewers—we’re players who wanted a better resource for fellow gamers. Our day jobs vary, but our evenings belong to campaigns, one-shots, and the eternal quest for the perfect dice set.
We maintain editorial independence. No manufacturer can buy a positive review, and affiliate commissions don’t influence our recommendations. If we say a set sucks, it sucks—even if it pays well.
Thanks for visiting King of Dice. May your rolls be high and your criticals be frequent.
